On the last Los Angeles Auto Show Chevrolet presented the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 concept. This pickup truck was a presentation of what design changes the next 2016 Chevy Colorado Diesel could have. This midsize pickup truck will be powered by Duramax diesel engine that we could see in previous Chevy models. If we know that the second generation of the Chevrolet midsize pickup truck was launched recently we could expect that the new Chevy Colorado 2016 will be presented in the second half of 2015 with small, but most likely important updates.
2016 Chevy Colorado redesign
The new Chevrolet midsize pickup truck, the 2016 Chevy Colorado diesel, will as usually offer great durability, performance and reasonable comfort. Its design will be influenced by the ZR2 concept. Its versatility will be its main benefit. The new Chevy Colorado 2016 will be available it two variations: Crew Cab and Extended Cab. Inside this Chevy midsize pickup truck will be enough room for 5 passengers that will have fully comfortable ride. The new 2016 Colorado will come with 17 in alloy wheels as standard while it will feature some additional functions like two tire loading system, EZ lift, new corner steps, 13 tie-down locations, etc.
“The design of the ZR2 concept is all about functionality,” said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. “It is inspired by the needs for traversing rock-strewn trails, as well as the aesthetics of competition-style vehicles such as pre-runners – with all elements contributing to safe, sustainable off-road driving.”
Chevy Colorado 2016 Diesel specs
The new Chevy Colorado 2016 will be powered by the 2.8-liter Duramax 4-cylinder diesel engine. It is estimated that it will produce 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and power will be transferred to all wheels. In order to improve fuel economy power will be able to transfer to front wheels only.
“This new Duramax diesel engine will take efficient capability to an entirely new plateau for the midsize pickup truck segment,” said Johnson. “Its broad torque band makes it very powerful at low rpm, while the turbocharged performance provides a confident feeling of immediate and smooth power on demand – attributes customers will appreciate when trailering.”
2016 Chevy Colorado release date and price
The 2016 Chevy Colorado diesel release date is still unknown but we expect to see it in the showrooms later next year and we can only sit and wait for additional information. The price of the new Chevy Colorado diesel 2016 will be lower than Chevy Silverado and base price of the Chevy midsize pickup truck will be around $26,700 while the top models could have base price not higher than $35,000.
