The 2016 Chevy Malibu is the latest addition to the GM’s mid-size sedan lineup. First Malibu was presented back in 1964, as a trim level of Chevy Chevelle. It came as a separate model in 1978 and it was produced for 5 more years. During that time, Malibu was made as a RWD mid-size car. When it was reintroduced in 1997, it became FWD. The 2.0-liter engine paired with all-new 8-speed automatic transmission gives fuel economy rated at 22 mpg in city and 32 mpg on the highway.
2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid
The 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid combines a new direct-injection 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 2-motor drive unit with an 80-cell, 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving a 182 horsepower (136 kW) of total system power. This unit can power the car at up to 55 mph (88 km/h) on electricity alone, while the petrol engine automatically comes on at higher speeds and higher loads. The Hybrid models are equipped with Volt’s regenerative braking system that recovers kinetic energy into the battery system during breaking which helps to new Malibu Hybrid to go voer 45 mpg fuel economy.
2016 Chevy Malibu price and release date
The base version of the new Chevy Malibu 2016 is going to be sold for around $23,000. It will be built at the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. The 2016 Chevy Malibu should be available at dealers at the end of this year.
