The 2016 Dodge Challenger will should keep its good name as one of the best known muscle cars on the market today. It is a fast, mean and aggressive muscle car which will surely please a lot of people. There are a few problems with it though and because it is an older model, some people are starting to lose interest. This is why the Dodge Challenger 2016 is a must if Dodge wants this car to continue selling in the future. Even though they haven’t released any official information just yet it seems that the next model won’t even bear the Challenger name. There are strong reasons to believe that it will be called the Barracuda, a smaller, faster and also cheaper model than the Challenger.
2016 Dodge Challenger redesign
The exterior of the 2016 Dodge Challenger will be completely different than look of the current generation. Dodge said that they want a smaller, lighter and better car than before, so it is likely to be built in cooperation with Maserati in order to get a special kind of muscle car. Inside the cabin, the Dodge Challenger 2016 replacement is going to feature a modular design which will allow Dodge to upgrade it with the price increase, so the base model will only feature a spartan interior with only the usual equipment while the top of the range will get things such as leather upholstery, satellite navigation and even a heads-up display.
Dodge Challenger 2016 specs
Engine wise it seems that Dodge wants to keep their engines and not go for the European Maserati ones. However, in order to keep the costs down it is likely that the new replacement for the 2016 Dodge Challenger will feature a smaller but equally powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged unit with up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Further engines could include an updated 6.4-liter V8 as well as a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Both of these however are going to be the top of the range, so a mid-range motor might come in the form of a 3.0-liter turbocharged or supercharged V6 with around 380 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. As far as the transmission goes, it is possible that Dodge Challenger 2016 will get the new 6-speed manual and the 8-speed automatic from its bigger brothers.
2016 Dodge Challenger release date and price
So far it seems that this new revamped Challenger will be released on the market sometime in 2016, most likely at the end of the year. It will completely replace the Challenger line but until then, there will be a last hurray of the Challenger with the Hellcat model and a new undisclosed version of the Dodge Challenger 2016 which is likely to be released as a special version. The price for the new 2016 Dodge Challenger will likely start at just under $27,000 and it will go up to as much as $70,000 for the special edition cars.
