The previous generation of the Honda Pilot was a midsize SUV with a boxy look which gave the car quite a stance on the road even though it wasn’t really appreciated by a lot of people. The new 2016 Honda Pilot on the other hand is a completely different car which even though shares its name with the previous model, it has nothing in common with it. It is based on a new platform, it looks better, it is bigger and it is also lighter by around 300 pounds which should give the car better fuel economy despite the more powerful engine. The new Honda Pilot 2016 will be launched this summer with new engine under the hood and new implemented technology.
2016 Honda Pilot redesign
Inside the cabin, Honda worked a lot on the layout of the interior with the new 2016 Honda Pilot being more spacious while keeping the seven seats of the original. The luggage space also increased and the general equipment and quality level increased in order to offer a very similar experience to the Acura counterpart. As standard the car features an infotainment system which also includes a satellite navigation system, a rear view camera, electric front seats with included heating, a dual-zone automatic climate control system as well as a lot of options like a panoramic roof, a fully leather upholstery with custom stitching and even a rear infotainment unit.
The exterior of the 2016 Honda Pilot also changed a lot and it is now a lot rounder in design. The front end reminds us of the Odyssey with the standard LED daytime running lights and the Xenon headlamps. At the back it has standard LED tail lights and the general look of the car does resemble a higher minivan which is both good and bad. The ground clearance increased while the car now has black plastic protections which might come in handy on unpaved roads.

Honda Pilot 2016 specs
Engine wise, the new Honda Pilot 2016 received an upgraded direct injected 3.5-liter V6 identical to that in the MDX. This should easily get around 25 MPG on average which is quite good for a seven passenger SUV. The engine develops 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque and it comes as standard with front wheel drive and a 6 speed automatic. As an option there is a four wheel drive system which comes with a 9 speed automatic and a Start/Stop system that will help the car during city driving.
2016 Honda Pilot release date and price
While the new Honda Pilot 2016 has been released at the Detroit Auto Show back in February 2015, the car won’t go on sale by the mid of 2015. The base price is expected to be around $32,000 which is right the average of its class. At this price point, the 2016 Honda Pilot is actually better equipped than the previous generation which is always nice.
