The Subaru Forester is one of the most appreciated crossover SUV vehicles on the market not because of its looks or interior but rather for its sturdy engines and standard all wheel drive system which is a unique feature in its class. The 2016 Subaru Forester is looking to be quite an improvement over the previous generation, improvement which is going to bring quite a few features to the car, mostly in terms of entertainment and comfort. Subaru also promised a new engine for the new Subaru Forester 2016 base unit, but more on that later.
2016 Subaru Forester review
Just as we previously said, exterior of the new Subaru Forester 2016 won’t change as much as we would like. In fact the car will only receive a new set of tail lights and a pair of Xenon headlights with included LEDs and also a new pair of wheels for the top of the range XT trim.
Let’s move to the inside of the 2016 Subaru Forester crossover SUV where things are going to get a bit more interesting. For the first time in quite some time the old gray interior is going to be replaced with 2-tone upholstery which is going to bring a bit of color. On top of that, the base trim will now offer a few more safety features like an accident avoiding system as well as a few extras such as satellite navigation and quite a premium audio system.
Subaru Forester 2016 specs
Under the hood of the new Subaru Forester 2016 the old 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-4 is likely going to get replaced with a smaller 1.6-liter engine with a turbocharger. This will offer around 170 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque which is actually more than before. The top of the range XT trim on the other hand will continue to offer the same 2.0-liter flat-4 but this time the power might see a bump to 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque which would be right up there with the best in class models. In terms of transmission, a four-wheel-drive system coupled to a CVT gearbox is going to be the only available option.
2016 Subaru Forester release date and price
While there are going to be changes to the underside of this crossover SUV, there aren’t going to be too many of them on the outside, mainly because the car is quite new being released back at the end of 2013. We do reckon that the new Subaru Forester 2016 will get a few minor styling updates in terms of lights or even wheels, but that’s about it. The price is also going to remain unchanged with the base Forester going for around $23,000 which is a bit above the average but then again, it will also offer quite a bit more than the average. The 2016 Subaru Forester release date hasn’t been set just yet but it will most likely come on the market by the end of the year.
